Is anyone interested in a post-4x06 Marina-themed mini-fest?

I posted this to my blog earlier:

So, who do we think Marina's dating? My leading candidates right now are Poppy and Plum. I'm inclined to say not Kady, unless she's got some kind of wheels-within-wheels mega-plot to destroy Marina going on—which, especially with all the luck stuff, not impossible—because I think mostly what Kady wants from Marina is her head on a spike, and not a hot fuck. (Though, Kady: why choose??) The strong suggestion of how cagey they were with a name, though, is that it's a character we know (so—Kady, Poppy, Emily Greenstreet [wrong genre of disaster for Marina, I think? convince me], Victoria [could be a fun not-dead reveal, but—p sure she's dead, also convince me], someone on Brakebills staff [*breathlessly* Faye???], Gretchen [prooobably unlikely, I can't think how Marina would know her, she started at Brakebills after Marina got kicked out and we don't have any reason to think she's a hedge... or do we], that psychic chick with the nose ring who was there at Penny's move-in in S1... who'm I missing?), or someone whose name would be a spoiler because they were in the books (Plum for sure... others, possibly? I don't remember, I read them years ago). Anyway, I desperately want to know, but in the meantime will accept picturing LEVEL FIFTY-NINE HOTNESS Marina (good costume week for Marina) banging... all of them, basically. I don't even care if we get the queer girl fan service because she's a little evil. She's a little evil and also incandescently hot.

Would anyone else be interested in a like, claim a Marina/a lady pairing, write/art a thing mini-challenge?

We could divvy up the list... say, no minimum, but do a time deadline like 7/10/14 days out, the way the flashworks communities do?

- Team Canon Impossible: Margo, Alice, Fen, Julia [creating for this team: allheadybooks (Margo), everyone else is unclaimed]

- Team Canon Implausible: Kady, Emily Greenstreet, Victoria, Zelda, Harriet [creating for this team: prooobably breathedout (Zelda), everyone else is unclaimed]

- Team Canon Plausible: Poppy, Irene McAllister (thanks achray for reminding me I'd forgotten her, so achray gets first dibs on her if she wants her), any women on Brakebills staff (Healer Faye, Professor Lipson, Professor Sunderland) [creating for this team: greywash (Lipson - lmk if you want Lipson instead and I'll swap to Whitley or Camille), achray (Irene), everyone else is unclaimed]

- Team Canon-Minor, Book-Canon, and OCs: Plum Purchas, Amanda Orloff, Gretchen, Camille, Whitley, OFC [creating for this team: no one yet]

If you want to claim a lady (or if I forgot anyone), and write/art/meta her with Marina, leave a comment and I'll add you to the list!! Tentative "deadline" is 8 pm Pacific, Friday, March 15 Friday, March 22—for Round 1, at least; no minimum size or word counts or anything; let's do this flash fiction style. :)

Crackships or plausible possibilities?? Like, I don’t think there’s any chance her girlfriend is Julia, but they’ve got some chemistry and I’d be into it. Marina/Kady likewise. Again, Marina/Margo, not gonna be canon, but I’d also be into that about 150%.

*thinks* I think what I want for this specific thing is something canon-plausible, but HEAVEN FORFEND that I should discourage anyone from making Marina/Julia or Marina/Margo. (...rebound screw? I mean uh what)

YOU KNOW WHAT WE COULD DO, if we get enough people??? Team canon probable vs. team canon plausible vs. team canon implausible vs. team impossible vs. team canon minor/original characters, or something?? And do it on works, not creators, so if people wanted they could do multiple submissions in multiple categories? (She said, begging the internet to give her Marina porn.) We'd have to settle on who's in which grouping, to try and get a roughly equal number of pairing options in each, but that could be fun??

I feel like I would propose:

- Team Canon Impossible: Margo, Alice, Fen, and Julia, I'd argue, are all (post-4x06) impossible as being the girl Marina's referring to, barring time POV hijinx (which I'm not ruling out, I'm just saying, if we're assuming that we're seeing events in order, it can't be any of them).

- Team Canon Implausible: Kady, Emily Greenstreet, Victoria (?), maybe like... Zelda? or Harriet? If Victoria's alive Harriet could be too... these are like... there's a characterization or in-story reason it's probably not them (in Victoria and Harriet's cases, they're strongly implied to be dead in Timeline 40, but you know, lots of people are only dead or appear to be dead on this show, so. In Zelda's case—she obviously knows about the time loops, which makes the implication that Marina is conning her new gf not really work).

- Team Canon Plausible: Poppy, maybe Healer Faye and Professor Lipson (I am not-so-secretly dying to write Marina/Professor Lipson), Sunderland if we want to get her in there, Plum (? Plum could also go in...). I feel like surely there are more but I can't remember who... we could move Emily Greenstreet to this group, too, since the reasons I stuck her in "Implausible" are fuzzier and more related to—uh, my read on the two of them as characters and less on like, logic.

- Team Canon-Minor and OCs: Gretchen (of Spock body pillow fame); the nose-ringed psychic who probably has a name but I don't know it; Whitley, maybe? (the cute S4 blonde played by David Duchovney's 19-year-old daughter, I am one million years old), any OFC of the creator's desiring.

Who am I forgetting? Would that division make sense, d'you think?

Gimme like... a week? I'd say "as the spirit moves," but if I don't have a deadline it'll drop off my unprecedentedly long to-do list. So I'll plan to post my contribution by Monday the 11th, say.

(Sometimes I look at fandoms full of teenagers, and see how productive they are, and I'm just like wow--what was it like to have that much unstructured time??)

And ahahahaha, I feel kind of weirdly/conflictedly called out by this given the *checks* 7 stories I've posted in the past month and the fact that this fandom does have a lot of Youth in it, despite the fact that I am 37?? I just feel The Magicians as a source really lends itself to short fic, which is easy for me to get out quickly, and also, I'm still, like, coasting by on a fugue of "I AM DONE WITH GRAD SCHOOL AND GAINFULLY EMPLOYED AND NOW HAVE ACTUAL WEEKENDS, THIS IS WHAT I'VE DREAMT OF ALL MY LIFE??" which. IDK when that's gonna wear off, but it's pretty great for now...

B) you mean after grad school, your life comes back??? I’m deep in what I have been assured is the worst part (second year PhD) and I’ve just sort of resigned myself to a level of stress and exhaustion that is only survivable because it’s temporary.
